By Barry Fox THE price of avoiding sunburn using the antiphotoageing face mask patented by Isabel Banuchi of Puerto Rico (WO 97/08968) could be a chat with the police. Banuchi has come up with a flexible plastic wrap that attaches to a pair of spectacles and covers the wearer’s face, forehead and ears. She claims it offers better protection than sunglasses, and avoids the allergic reactions triggered by some sunscreen lotions. The mask is perforated to allow perspiration, and larger holes over the nose and mouth let the wearer breathe normally. The mask not only protects sunbathers, but helps to rejuvenate facial skin that is already sunburnt, says Banuchi. Her sketches show a mask looking very similar to a bank robber’s balaclava,
